What is ProfoundDistortion.com?
ProfoundDistortion.com was one of the first websites I ever created back in '97 (and the first domain name I owned). The original site is long gone, but I re-purchased the domain name and decided to start a blog. So...that's what it is currently. Why "ProfoundDistortion"?
Back when I first created ProfoundDistortion, I knew I wanted my own domain name (I had been using my dad's server, angelfire, geocities, etc before that), but had no clue what I wanted it to be. I actually just went to some really bad website that claimed to have a "domain name generator"! All it did was took a random adjective and a random noun and put them together. I gave it shot, and the 2nd name it came up with was "ProfoundDistortion"...seeing as I am an electric guitarist, that name really hit me. The more I thought about it, the more meaning that name had to me, so I decided to buy it.Who am I?
Well, I have long-since been a self-professed computer nerd. I wrote my first website in 6th grade and haven't stopped coding since. Along with spending much of my day in front of a computer screen, I have a wonderful wife and two beautiful daughters. I am passionate about music. I like to think of myself as somewhat of an athlete (I love skateboarding, snowboarding, running, biking, football, frisbee, climbing, etc). I enjoy homebrewing. I am a fairly religious person. I love math and science...I think that about sums it up.What kind of stuff will be on this blog?
That's a really good question! I really don't know yet. As mentioned above, I have quite a few interests in life: Computers/Programming, family, sports, religion, brewing, math, science...I'm guessing you will find a little bit of all of these things in this blog. You might even see all of them in a single post. Hopefully you find the posts interesting, entertaining, and perhaps even educational! In short, I have no idea what I'm going to write about, so we'll see...Why start a blog at all, then?
Honestly, it's because of my dad. My dad started a blog a few years ago, and that really gave me a lot of insight into who he was and his way of approaching the world. Unfortunately, he only wrote a handful of entries before passing away. I have realized how nice it is to have his writings now, and I wish he had been able to write more. So, I decided I would start my own blog. Do I expect anyone to ever read this? No. Do I expect those few that do stumble upon it to care about what I write? Not really. This is really for myself and anyone who wants to step into my little world.
